Settled In

We are officially out of boxes and enjoying our new home. It is the first time in our six years of marriage that we haven't had to share walls with anyone so this is huge. It is so nice not to be woken up in the middle of the night to music or to hear someone go pee and flush the toilet. This last month has been great! We have been spending every weekend at some family event of some sort or at a "getting to know you" thing for Jesse's residency program. It is so nice to be close to family again and Finn has been loving playing with all of his cousins. Jesse started his first official day of residency and has begun to play Doctor, which is crazy. He is freaking out but I know that he will be just fine. There are a total of six residents and all of them including their spouses are so incredibly nice and normal. We have been spending a lot of time together this past week and it has been lots of fun getting to know them and their families and know that Jesse will be in good company on those long hours. Here are a few pictures of what our last three weeks have entailed!
Jesse decided to be adventurous and climb a mountain by himself. I feared for his life, but he did return home safe and sound and said it was a nice get away to clear his head

He's crazy
What a mountain man!

I bought this little kiddie pool for our yard and Finn loves it. He was so funny and cute.

This is Finn's new "cheese" face
Finn having his little before bedtime snack. Lay's Baked potato chips. Yummy!

It is South Ogden days, so we decided to go to the Carnival and let Finn try the carousel for the first time. I think that Jesse was enjoying it way more than Finn

Finn started to scream so they had to stop the ride early, but then he cried when he was off because he wanted to get back on. He is just never satisfied!

We went to a park with Jesse's fellow residents to enjoy some music, junk food and fire works.

Some of Jesse's fellow residents and their cute families

We went down to Jesse's brothers house to celebrate Jesse's moms Birthday

All cleaned up !

Moving on...

Just a couple of little itty-bitty minor things have happened since our last post. Jesse graduated medical school, we packed up our little Denver house, took a killer drive through beautiful Wyoming, and have moved into our new little South Ogden house. Besides that, not much has gone on.

Graduation was nice and we had a few family members and friends come in for the big celebration. Jesse is now the proud owner of a very expensive piece of paper known as his medical degree. He is totally freaked out about not going to school anymore. Being a student is much easier than actually working and having responsibility. That stuff is scary.

Here he is in his dork-hat and dress-thing. Graduation garb has never been his favorite thing.

After the ceremony. That green thing around his neck is called a "hood". They do a weird hooding ceremony and it is just more weirdness to add to the graduation clothing.

With Mark after the graduation. He will be in Salt Lake for a surgery residency so there were no tears of goodbye at graduation. We took a picture with the ladies of our lives, but it didn't turn out too good so we will just have to settle for a shout out to them.

The graduation party then went to Senor Rita's for some greasy Mexican food. Jesse will miss this place for their fish tacos. Lindy will not miss this place at all. It was fun having everybody out. We hit downtown Denver, ate too much, went to a Rockies game (Granny Angus is now 80 and has done loads of things but this was her first MLB game), and had a good time catching up with everybody. We really appreciated having everybody show their support and spoiling us rotten as always.

Obviously, the worst part of moving was leaving friends that we have made over the years. This is the Tobler clan on "Bachelor Night". Michael was nice enough to come along with April so that Jesse had somebody to mock the show with. Anyhow, leaving friends is never easy and we had a rough week saying goodbye to the Toblers and others. Luckily, many of them are staying in Colorado so they aren't too far away.

This is Finn's final stroll around the old Denver place. He loves putting his little stuffed critters in his stroller and taking them for a walk.

Finn was a huge help packing, if crawling in empty boxes that are ready to get packed is considered helping. We thought about closing this one up and sending it to China but then we remembered that we like him most of the time and we are going to need somebody to take care of us when we start pooping our pants again in our old age.

This is Finn's new bedroom. It looks a lot like the old one. Hopefully it will be a little more magical and he will actually sleep in it.

Finn giving the new couch a rub down just before bedtime. Our graduation gift to ourselves was this couch, of which you get to see a whole lot of. It is also a gift for our anniversary, Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day, birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Flag Day, etc... The rug was a steal from Lowes that covers up a few "blemishes" on the carpet from the last people who lived here. As a sidenote, we would like to encourage the world to get rid of white carpet. Please join us in this cause.

We like this picture just because of Finn's hair. For some reason, Lindy always makes it wild just before his bedtime.

Here is a picture of the new place. It is nice and open on the main level.

Lindy's favorite place in the house- the crafting nook. Stay tuned for some amazing projects.

Finn's favorite room- the ball room. Not a dancing ballroom, a playing ball room. Although, because pretty much anything goes in this room, if you wanted to dance, you could. Finn loves this place and just runs around in circles, howling like a dog.

Killing Time

The last couple of weeks cruised by. It is weird thinking that we only have two weeks left in Denver. Everyday has been pretty much the same lately. We kick off the mornings watching the Wiggles with Finn, talk about starting to pack, forget about starting to pack, find a way to get out of the house, worry about moving, watch crappy evening television, then go to sleep. Somewhere in there, Jesse has squeezed in the last few days of medical school and we have managed to eat way more than we should. Here are a few pictures of us killing time.

"Take me to your leader!"

At the zoo.

This is the batch of strawberries Lindy threw together for her last of the weekly "The Bachelor" and "Dancing With the Stars" parties. She has some ladies get together every Monday and they all squeel about the dancers and the loose ladies on the worst show on television, The Bachelor. May we all sleep better knowing that the most dramatic rose ceremony in bachelor history ended in true love once again.

This is Finn bright and early in the morning. As you may be able to tell, he is waking in his parents' bed. If you have any advice for our parenting skills, go eat a fart.

Jesse turned 29 on April 29th, his golden birthday. He celebrated the day by waking up early and going on a 29 mile bike ride. He came home to a lit up slab of German pancakes that were quite delicious. He milked the golden birthday thing for a whole week and was spoiled, spoiled, spoiled. Unfortunately for him, the golden birthday thing eventually wore off and now it is back to being the grubby little grunt that he is.

Finn with Blake, his buddy who is 4 months younger than him. Finn had his 18 month appointment a few days ago and we are happy to report that he is now a whopping (drumroll-tttt-ttt-tttt-ttt-tttt-t-t-t) 19 pounds. 19 HUGE pounds! What a little squirt.

Finn with his potential future wife, Maddi. Sadly, these two may have to struggle with a long term relationship because we have been unsuccessful at talking anybody in to moving to Ogden with us. People think that just because they have jobs and family elsewhere, they can't move to O-town. Ridiculous.

Lest you think that life is all roses, here is our little booger's new favorite thing- the totally fake whiney fit. To add sound effect to the picture above, let out all your breath except for the last 10%. Push the last bit out as fast and as hard as you can, with a touch of a high pitch. This is awesome.

Celebrity look-alikes

We saw this while we were blog-hopping and thought it was pretty funny so we did it ourselves. Go to www.myheritage.com and follow the links to see who you look like the most.

Jesse's look-alikes:

It was a little weird for Jesse to see that he matched best with Ms. Flockhart, but he is coming to terms with it and is even thinking of changing his last name to McBeal. We don't know of any actual relation to Herbert Spencer but Jesse is envious of his sideburns. All in all, this was a pretty sad list and a kick to the face for Jesse. What little self-respect he had is now gone.

Lindy's look-alikes:

Lindy is nothing but hot! What more can be said?

Our new casa

We have been procrasti-blogging lately because we were in Utah for the past couple weeks looking for some new diggs. We had the complete experience. We spent a few days looking at rentals, a few days looking at places to buy, and then a few more days looking at places to rent. In the end, we decided to rent and are really excited about the place we found.

It is really close to the hospital and should work out well for us. Here are a few of our favorite things about the place:

---This will be the very first time in our marriage that we won't be sharing any walls, floors, or ceilings with any neighbors. We are very much looking forward to having marital spouts at increased volume now that we aren't afraid of the neighbors calling the cops on us.

---We met one of our neighbors and she seemed normal. She looks like she might be the type of person that will send a few freshly-baked cookies our way for no reason.

---The house has a couple of spare rooms so you are all invited to spend a night (or few) at the new Chateau-le-Spencer in beautiful South Ogden. Your stay will include a breakfast of a selection of the finest cold cereals, entertainment by Finn, and perhaps some fresh cookies made by the nice neighbor lady.

---A back yard for the boy. As you can also see, there will be plenty of opportunities to spy on the neighbors. As you can't see from the picture, there is also a garden plot, a big patio, and a waterfall with a hot tub. Nothing beats a dip in the hot tub with fresh veggies to munch on as you soak.

---There is a sink with a drinking fountain in the garage. This was the selling point for Jesse. He has dreamed of having a drinking fountain in his house forever.

---There are two big family rooms (total of three in the house) that we have absolutely no furniture for. Lindy sees this as a positive because she wants to buy more furniture. Jesse sees this as an opportunity for a dance floor to work on his break dancing and another room dedicated to a foosball table or a go-crazy-room for Finn.

---It ain't all good though. The kitchen has fleshy-pink coutertops and the place needs some cleaning love. Hopefully the cleaning will be done by the time that we move but we are pretty much stuck with the fleshy-pink, yum!

As you can see, we are tickled fleshy-pink about the place and are glad that the house-hunting is finally over.

We did other stuff in Utah besides look at houses. We did a lot of Wii golfing, a ton of eating good food, some biking, Finn played with lots of cousins, some watching cousins play soccer, playing fetch with Neil's dogs, watching our sister-in-law run the Salt Lake half marathon, watching Rachel's dance company perform their spring show, watched "Baby Mama", and a bunch of other stuff. As usual, we took no pictures of those things.

Genetics!

I decided to do a post to clarify a few things! Those of you who know Finn, know that he is a little bit of a runt for his age. (But a dang cute runt!) And because he is completely off the charts in every way we had to take him to Children's Hospital last week for some tests. These tests were to make sure that he small due to genetics rather than some type of disease. Everything came back just fine and he is indeed small due to genetics. But looking at his parents we aren't exactly giants or anything. So I decided to go through some of my pictures when I was Finn's age and I hope that it clarifies that my sweet little boy just might take after his mom. (Poor kid!!!)

Our sweet little boy

This is Lindy at Finn's age

For some reason I think that Finn looks just like Lindy in this picture... What do you think?

This is Lindy when she was a Sunbeam at church. I think that I might have these other girls beat on being the shortest in class. Dang genetics!

It's April!

Here are a few pictures from the last week. Nothing too terribly exciting is happening here in Denver although we did get together with some friends for dinner and of course I am lame and I can never remember to bring my camera. Other than Jesse playing an April fool's joke on me by putting toothpaste in my straw so when I decided to take a drink of my delicious diet coke I was surprised with a disgusting minty paste... What a sweet husband I have. I guess it could have been worse! And that was our week. We are thinking of driving to Utah sometime in the next week to go house hunting and that is all that is in the works for now.

Finn in his Easter outfit.

Finn got this Easter basket from the Mawhinney's Grandparents. They invited us over for Easter dinner and she had a little egg scavenger hunt for Finn and Josh . Each of them received a little basket which had a toy car, animal crackers and a few other cute treats in it. It was the sweetest and cutest thing ever. And Finn absolutely loved it.

I attempted to be crafty and met with some friends to make "pillowcase dresses" and baby hair bows. And no... this dress is not an announcement of any kind. I made it for a friend who just a little girl!

Finn loves to talk to his Grandmas on the phone and he thinks that is either extremely funny or a complete tragedy when I try to take it back. In this instance it was funny.

He must be concentrating on the question!

He is so good at multi tasking! He can play with his toys and talk on the phone at the same time. He's got mom beat!
